The game started off with a pre-game show featuring the Spirits Dance Team. The Saint’s Brigade and Sapphire’s Color Guard then took the field performing the first half of their set. This year’s set, The British Invasion of STA, began with the song Eleanor Rigby, followed by Yesterday from the Beatles. We were joined by the Order of Hibernian Color Guard presenting the colors with the National Anthem sung by a choir alumni.

Half-time began with the presentation of the Homecoming court. Each of the princes and princesses were escorted onto the field by their parent(s). The procession began with Myles King followed by Mary Clare Bono, Russell Lokko, Hanna Ephrem, Jeremiah Penney, Kate Kempton, Owen Pudenz, Elizabeth Morrissey, Ethan Young, and Alex Ward. Finally, it was the moment we had all been waiting for. 2021 Homecoming King Luke Konnesky crowned the 2022 Homecoming King Ethan Young and Queen Elizabeth Morrissey.

After our newest king and queen were crowned, our Student Council representatives took the field to announce the winners of the Homecoming Class Competitions. Seniors took first in the hallway decorations, with the sophomores taking second. The juniors managed to steal first place in the skits, followed by the seniors in second. Lastly, the seniors won the video competition with the juniors in second.

The game ended with a victory for the St. James Thunder and a final score of 20-24. Even though it was a sad end to the game, the remaining students in the stands linked arms and sang the Alma Mater, reminding us all that no matter if we win or lose, love will conquer all.
